Michael J Sweeney


Michael believes that agribusiness requires a multi-pronged management approach encompassing operational excellence, continuous restructuring and strategy refinement and a flexible capital structure.

Currently, he is the Chief Financial Officer of Three Islands Intermodal, based in Singapore, one of the largest logistics and port services business in New Zealand with offices across Australasia. He is also the founding partner of a family office’s private equity investment arm, focused on North American consumer, F&B, health and wellness, and industrial assets.

Prior to his current appointments, Michael co-founded a boutique strategic advisory firm having completed more than 15 engagements in the last 4 years. In addition, he was on secondment with Alltech Asia Pacific serving as its Director of Strategy. His responsibilities included restructuring of the regional business, acquisitions and divestitures, new hires, enhanced reporting, and change management throughout the organization.

Michael has an investment banking background, in the real estate and natural resource sectors at Citigroup and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in London and New York, respectively. While working in banking, Michael advised on deals in excess of USD $3.0bn. Michael graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in history and economics, specializing in the 20th century. He is currently earning his Masters in Theology & Ministry to bridge the gap between sustainability and communities of faith.
