Food systems across Asia and the Pacific are at a critical turning point, and the scale of action is accelerating

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has surpassed its $14 billion commitment (2022–2025) to strengthen food security across the region, reaching 62 million farmers and supporting more than 500,000 jobs. What’s even more significant is what comes next: a bold ambition to mobilize $40 billion by 2030 to transform food systems so they nourish people, protect nature, and create inclusive rural growth.

This shift goes beyond standalone projects. It reflects a broader move toward integrated food systems, bringing together climate resilience, private sector investment, digital solutions, nutrition, and stronger agrifood value chains. The goal: to reach more than 190 million smallholder farmers by the end of the decade.

Key announcements from the Asia and the Pacific Food Systems Forum 2026 also highlight how collaboration will drive this transformation through new partnerships, regional investment platforms, and stronger alignment across development institutions and the private sector.

Encouraging to see food security being treated not just as a development priority, but as a long-term systems transformation opportunity!
